In 2007, Taylor finished with 188 total tackles and 29 tackles-for-loss, earning a spot in the NC/SC Shrine Bowl and 1st-team AP all-state honors. More importantly, he was healthy the entire season. He helped Myrtle Beach to an undefeated regular season.
As a junior in 2006, Taylor made around 150 tackles despite missing two games due to an arm fracture. He helped Myrtle Beach to a 10-3 record overall and an appearance in the state semifinals.
In his sophomore season, Taylor racked up 205 total tackles including 42 tackles-for-loss and eight sacks. He added eight forced fumbles and two interceptions. He earned Sun Times Toast of the Coast Defensive Football Player of the Year and all-Region VII-AAA honors for his sophomore season performance.
