Thompson averaged 17 points per game for Forest Hills in 2005-2006. He transferred to Hope Christian for the 2006-2007 year.
Thompson originally verballed to the Hokies as a member of the 2008 recruiting class. He planned on attending Hargrave for a prep year, but when the NCAA changed its rules and prohibited players from taking more than one core course in prep school, Thompson completed his high school academic work on time and became a member of the 2007 recruiting class.
