Allen scored in double figures in 23 of Hargrave Military Academy's games in 2006/2007, including eight games of 20-plus points.

For his senior year, he transferred to famed Oak Hill Academy, where he started and averaged 14 points and 9.6 rebounds, and shot 64 percent from the field for one of the top teams in the nation.

Allen averaged 11 points and 13 rebounds per game as a junior at DeMatha High School.

Comments from TSL Guru Rev. Zeke Vodka: Jeff Allen is the jewel of this outstanding class and a prospect who can be an impact player as a freshman. I can easily see Allen and Deron Washington doing the bulk of the heavy lifting at forward next season. And, in Allen, the Hokies add a multidimensional player who can effectively thrive at several positions. I can envision Allen even moving away from the basket and taking some minutes at Washington's position once Deron finishes his career. Allen is tough, physical and has an outstanding set of hands which will play well on the glass for Tech, an area that has been of some concern recently. He can overpower smaller players inside with his post play, yet can make plays away from the basket when guarded by interior players because he can pass and handle the ball and his outside stroke is becoming more and more effective. He has great timing on the glass and instantly knows where the ball is going and can get there before other players with a quicker second leap can due to that instinct. He was frankly a little heavier last season at Oak Hill than you would ideally want him but has lost some of that weight and is looking quicker and more athletic this season with Hargrave.
