There's a new voice coming to the airwaves of TechSideline.com media partner ESPN Radio AM 1430 in Blacksburg, VA. Len Martez, coming by way of Miami, FL has accepted the job and his show, The Len Martez Show, will begin on Monday July 9th.

Martez will serve as Sports Director for AM 1430, hosting the afternoon drive show from 4-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, as well as overseeing all sports broadcasts on the station and hosting Blacksburg's College Game Day, ESPN AM 1430's tailgate show prior to all Virginia Tech Football games.

Martez comes from working as a fill in show host and reporter for Sports Radio 560, WQAM in Miami. Along with filling in for hosts, he covered the Miami Heat during their NBA Championship run in 2006, along with providing coverage to the station for the Florida Marlins and Miami Dolphins.

"We're very excited about bringing in someone with the kind of experience and drive that Len has," said Positive Radio Group corporate manager Aaron Marks, "Len has the experience we're looking for and his show has an excitement that we can't wait to put on the air every day."

Prior to his work in Miami, Martez worked in sports talk radio out of Washington D.C. and with a degree from Towson State University he is no stranger to the mid-Atlantic and its sports atmosphere.

Coming from the Miami area there is one thing Martez wants to clear the air of right from the start, "I am in no way a fan or affiliated with the Miami Hurricanes sports teams," said Martez.

That should bring some comfort to any Hokies with a concern of listening to a Miami native every day. The Miami Dolphins, New York Knicks and New York Mets may be a different story, though.

The Len Martez Show will bring the profile of a national show to the local airwaves in the New River Valley. Through his contacts in the NFL, MLB, and NBA, as well as friends in the sports media industry, listeners can expect to hear a variety of interviews and topics each day.

Joining Martez every afternoon will be another new hire for the station, Quentin Penn-Holler, a rising senior at Virginia Tech. Penn-Holler will serve as producer for the show as he tries to gain valuable experience in the sports media industry while still pursuing his college degree.
