FB Recruiting Overview: One Month to Go January 8, 2009 Less than a month remains until 2009 Signing Day and Virginia Tech currently boasts 18 verbal commitments in the 2009 football recruiting class. 2008 Orange Bowl Game Analysis: Practice Makes Perfect January 7, 2009 As I was walking to the car last Thursday night, I reflected on the accomplishments of the 2008 Virginia Tech football team and tried to think of some way to capture them in my article. But so much has been said and written on the subject already...there is very little I can add. The fact that this team (of all the past Tech teams) won a BCS Bowl game and captured the Orange Bowl trophy is still hard to believe several days later. But they did it. In beating Cincinnati, the Hokies broke through several barriers - Dolphin Stadium isn't cursed after all - and salvaged some pride for the beleaguered ACC. And now with the Orange Bowl trophy in hand, this young group of Hokies has set themselves up for a quite a season in 2009. more
2008 Monday Thoughts: Orange Bowl Champs January 5, 2009 What a season, and what a finish. What a pleasure it is to face the month of January coming off a bowl win, without any drama. It's the first time since 2002 that the Hokies finished with a win and didn't stomp somebody in the leg doing it. As many gaps, injuries, problems and youth as this team had, they still did what no Tech team has done since 1995: win a conference championship and a BCS Bowl. more
More on Tyrell and Tariq Edwards January 5, 2009 On Christmas Day, Marlboro County (Bennettsville, S.C.) wide receiver/tight end Tyrell Edwards came back on board with Virginia Tech, recommitting to the Hokies and accepting Tech's offer of a grey-shirt opportunity. Edwards' father, Bo Campbell, spoke about his son's recommitment and updated the recruitment of his other son, Tariq. more

Stanton boasts official scholarship offers from James Madison and Old Dominion, but has either of the two in-state ACC programs come through since those visits? more
2008 Football Game Recap: Hokies Dominate Bearcats, Win Orange Bowl 20-7 January 2, 2009 Miami, FL -- Virginia Tech topped Cincinnati 20-7 in the 75th Orange Bowl, behind 153 yards rushing from Darren Evans and four interceptions by the Hokie defense. Tech gave up an early touchdown, then locked down on the Bearcats, and VT had one of their strongest offensive efforts of the season to score 20 unanswered points and notch the win. It is Tech's first BCS Bowl win since the 1995 Sugar Bowl and brings the Hokies their fifth ten-win season in a row, a feat matched by just USC and Texas. more
2008 Keys to the Game, Matchups to Watch, and Game Prediction: The Orange Bowl December 31, 2008 Virginia Tech returns to the Orange Bowl as an underdog to the Big East champion Cincinnati Bearcats. The Hokies have a more serious, business-like attitude going into this game with the reputation of the program and the ACC conference at stake. While this game may not have the marquee appeal of the other BCS bowl games, the Orange Bowl may well be the most competitive match up of the major bowl games. So, what should we expect in this year's bowl game? more
There's Lots to Play for in the Orange Bowl December 31, 2008 This isn't exactly the most hyped-up Orange Bowl ever. Hardly anyone I know is going, the matchup isn't sexy for the TV guys, and ESPN seems to think the only BCS game being played is the Rose Bowl. Nonetheless, it's important. Here are six reasons why it's important, in no particular order. more

The 6-5, 235-pound McCray, one of the top 2010 class recruits in the state of Virginia, now prepares to showcase his talents on a national level at the Army All-American Junior Combine. more
2008 Football Game Preview: The FedEx Orange Bowl December 29, 2008 The Hokies are back in South Florida for the second year in a row, and this time they are trying to get it right. #19 Virginia Tech will take on #12 Cincinnati on January 1 in the FedEx Orange Bowl. If the Hokies win, it will mean another 10-win season and a possible preseason Top 10 in 2009. If they lose, it will be the fourth bowl loss in the last five years, and another offseason of grumbling from the Hokie faithful. more

After cancelling a scheduled visit from South Carolina coaches, though, he now seems solid to Virginia Tech. more
