March 12, 2008
Booker T. Washington (Norfolk, VA) power forward DeShawn Painter entered the 2007/2008 season with high expectations as one of the most highly rated prospects in the 2009 class. The season did not go as planned for Painter, who admittedly struggled against top competition and defenses focused on taking him out of the game. However, by the end of the season, the 6-8, 215-pound prospect regained his swagger and is excited heading into the AAU season.

March 7, 2008
The Hokies will look to do something they've never done before when they take on #24 Clemson on Sunday afternoon: They will go for their fifth straight ACC victory. The Hokies have won four straight ACC games on two occasions, but never five. A road win over a Top 25 team would go a long way in securing an NCAA tournament berth for the Hokies. Clemson has a lot to play for as well, such as the #3 seed in the ACC tournament. It's also Senior Day for three Tigers.

ACC's Strength May Be Its -- and the Hokies' -- Undoing
March 7, 2008
The ACC is the most tradition-rich, competitive basketball conference in the country. It is to college basketball what the SEC is to college football. All the teams are good, and anyone is capable of knocking off anyone on any given night. However, will that type of parity come back to bite the ACC in the postseason?

Thanks to a three-game winning streak and a high spot in the ACC standings, NCAA tournament talk has been a focus on the basketball board recently. At this point you can make a case for the Hokies, but you can make a stronger case against them.

February 25, 2008
With just two weeks remaining in the season, there are still a number of things that have yet to be decided. February 22, 2008
Virginia Tech will begin a three-game home stand on Saturday with momentum from a big win at Maryland on Wednesday night. The Hokies will take on Georgia Tech, a team that doesn't look like much in the win-loss column. Don't be fooled by looking at their record. They have a good team that has lost a number of very close games, and they also defeated the Hokies earlier in the season.

2007-08 Basketball Game Preview: Virginia Tech at Maryland
February 20, 2008
Virginia Tech has lost three games in a row, and they'll look to get back in the win column when they take on Maryland in College Park on Wednesday night. Simply put, it would be a big accomplishment to pick up the win. The Terps are at least the third best team in the ACC, and they are a completely different team than the one the Hokies beat by one point in Blacksburg for their first ACC win of the season.

The Q Word Rears Its Ugly Head

How quickly the fortunes of a freshman-laden ACC team can turn. Three games ago, the Virginia Tech Hokies blew Virginia off the floor in overtime in a 72-65 win. They were loose, they were smiling, they were 5-3 in the ACC, and they were the toast of the Hokie Nation. Three losses later, capped by a humiliating defeat in Chapel Hill, the Hokies are struggling, and the finger pointing has begun.
